DAY 1: Embrace Winter in Cache Valley

Ski and Eat at Beaver Creek Utah

MORNING

Hit the ground running on day one in Logan & Cache Valley, Utah. Head directly to Beaver Mountain Ski Resort: the longest running family-owned ski resort in the nation. Far from the crowded slopes you’ll find elsewhere in the Beehive State, the 48 runs at Beaver Mountain will delight skiers and snowboarders of all abilities. Plus, with an average snowfall of over 400 inches each season, you’re guaranteed to have great conditions during your visit. Take the kids for a tour of Gentle Ben Family Fun Park, where you can improve your skills on a variety of boxes, rails, and jumps. Or, tour the Rodeo Grounds Terrain Park. Here, jumps, jibs, rollers, and tabletops will keep the most traveled powder hounds entertained all day. For lunch, hockey stop into the Beaver Mountain Grill for a legendary “Big Beav Double Bypass” burger; a whopper so big you’ll need to pace yourself. Hit the hill to burn some of it off, and when your quads start to burn, call it a day and return to downtown Logan. You may want to spend some time browsing the downtown area before another meal. Otherwise, tuck into an upscale dinner and a cocktail at Elements Restaurant, or indulge in an elevated Italian entree at Le Nonne. Pairing artful foods by a chef right out of Italy with Friday night live jazz at Le Nonne will lend an air of sophistication to your journey!

Anniversary Inn in Cache Valley, Utah

EVENING

Afterward, take the family (or your inner child) to the new ice rink at the Carol and Jim Laub Plaza for a few laps beneath the stars. All good things must come to an end, and so it is with your first day experiencing winter in Cache Valley. Luckily it’s easy to get some rest in this Utah town. Logan has a plethora of options from historic bed and breakfasts to unusual finds like the Anniversary Inn, where each suite has its own theme. Wherever you choose to sleep, rest up for another day filled with excitement in Cache Valley.

DAY 2: Go Cross-Country and Sample Logan’s Unique Flavors

Snowmobile and dine in Cache Valley this winter

MORNING

Prioritize fueling your fun and stop by one of Logan’s eateries to get lunch, to go. Old Grist Mill offers sack lunches that will wow. Complete with fresh bread for your sandwiches and home-baked cookies, it’s a delicious deal for fueling a full day of snowmobiling adventures! If your legs are still feeling the effects of yesterday, you might choose to rent snowmobiles at Beaver Creek Lodge. Their family-friendly half and full day rentals are available on a guided and self-led basis, depending on your skill level and interest in exploring off-trail. Or, if you’re craving more of a workout, try some cross-country skiing or snowshoeing. Pick up rental equipment and tips from town at The Sportsman. Then, drive to either Green Canyon or Smithfield Canyon: both feature groomed trails for skate and classic skiing.

AFTERNOON

That afternoon, take a horse-drawn sleigh ride at Hardware Ranch. Not only is this unique outing fun for the whole family, but it offers the potential for an epic wildlife sighting—a herd of 700 wild Rocky Mountain elk frequent the area, offering an up-close look at one of the West’s most iconic animals. Afterward, make time to sample some of the signature flavors of Logan. Whether your taste buds prefer chocolate, honey, or craft beer, there’s something for everyone in Cache Valley.
