From the plains of eastern Montana to its mountainous western side, Montana’s wide open spaces are awe-inspiring. These diverse landscapes offer plenty of opportunities for sightseeing and recreating.
Two of America’s favorite national parks are found in Montana—Glacier National Park and Yellowstone National Park. Glacier National Park is located in the northwest corner of the state, and borders Canada. Although only about three percent of Yellowstone National Park lies within Montana, three of the park’s five entrances are in the state, including the popular West Yellowstone entrance.
Although there are no official national parks that lie entirely in Idaho, part of Yellowstone National Park is in the eastern part of the state. Idaho does have a few other intriguing National Park Services sites worth visiting including Craters of the Moon National Monument & Preserve.
