Lodges of East Yellowstone – Finding Your Special Place in The Wild

Let's be honest: I have always been a bit hesitant about visiting Yellowstone National Park. It sounds crazy, I know. I was skeptical about these bumper to bumper cars and these crowds of people that everyone always spoke about. I thought to myself, "is this really what Yellowstone is all about, is there really not some place that is still in the wild?" Well I’m glad I didn’t fall into the talk of the crowds. Let me tell you about The Lodges of East Yellowstone.

Getting to The Lodges of East Yellowstone

Right between Cody, Wyoming and the East Entrance of Yellowstone National Park, I drove down the byway that Teddy Roosevelt once called one of the most scenic 50 miles in America. It is one of those drives that gives you goose bumps each and every mile you gain. It may have been the new life of wildflowers, or the astonishing rock formations. Also the wildlife that I was lucky enough to catch a glimpse of, or possibly, everything in between, could have contributed to that feeling.

‘In the wild’

Dispersed throughout this area peeking out of the pine trees are The Lodges of East Yellowstone. These lodges offer not only an authentic vacation for anyone who is planning to stay near Yellowstone, but a vacation in the wild. What I mean by ‘in the wild’ is you truly get to enjoy the beauty of nature. Something we all tend to take for granted from time to time.

The Lodges of East Yellowstone will become your home away from home. I say this for many reasons. For starters the lodges themselves are cozy, quaint and rustic (my favorite aspect). You sit in the wooden rocking chair on the front porch of your lodge to enjoy the sound of the rushing river and the aromatic mountain air. If you’re lucky enough you will get to see some wildlife roaming around the property. This is where the ‘in the wild’ really starts to kick in.

That family feeling

The owners of these lodges are such kindhearted people that not only make you feel right at home, but make you feel like you are a part of the family. They will play a game of horseshoes with you or sit around the evening campfire to enjoy a good ole fashion conversion. These genuine people will make your stay at the lodges even more than you could ask for. Everyone knows the saying, “home isn’t about the place you are at, it’s about the people you are with”.

Enjoy the ride!

Now if you really want to enjoy nature in a bona fide way, I suggest taking a horseback ride with The Lodges of East Yellowstone. They can take you on rides anywhere between one hour or take you on a country overnight wilderness trip, depending on how true to the western roots you want to be. As you ride through the Shoshone National Forest you get a real feel for one of natures best qualities, silence. On top of that, the views of the landscape are breathtaking.

So for all these reasons, I thank you Lodges of East Yellowstone, for opening my mind that was once closed, and for offering  a very special place in the wild.
