Writer & Traveler

Williams, Arizona, is where the experiences are plenty and as varied as our personalities. Maybe that’s why Williams offers something for every kind of person and every member of your family. From your engineer uncle to your wild teenagers, we’re not exaggerating when we say Williams has something for everyone.

This story was created in partnership with Experience Williams.

1. The Theatre Kid

Whether you listen to “Hamilton” on repeat or still tell that story about your role as Tree Number 3 in the school play, you might just be a theater geek (we use that word affectionately, of course.) Luckily the thespian in all of us finds great amusement in Williams’ cowboy shows. The immersive Old West experiences found at both the Wild West Junction AND aboard the Grand Canyon Railway bring times gone by to life with dedicated actors and committed entertainers.

2. Animal Lovers

If, like us, you idolize the late, great Steve Irwin, Williams is the place to honor him with a distinctly Southwest America flair. Bearizona Wildlife Park is a combination drive-through/walk-through attraction where you can watch bears, wolves, bison, and sheep roam. For a more hands-on experience, the Grand Canyon Deer Farm is where you can get a close-up with gentle creatures.

3. Thrill Seekers & Adrenaline Junkies

The Route 66 Zipline, Canyon Coaster Adventure Park, and Grand Canyon UTV Tours are all fantastic ways to feed your inner daredevil. For the real action addict, book a helicopter tour or take the plunge with a skydiving excursion.

4. Old Souls

Nostalgia is basically the middle name of Williams, Arizona, and the town’s location along Route 66 immerses visitors in classic American road trip culture. Vintage car displays and neon signs scattered across town set the scene for a step back in time. In addition, the Grand Canyon Railway gives visitors the ultimate historic travel experience by rumbling along tracks that lead straight to one of America’s most revered vistas, the south rim of the Grand Canyon.

5. The Class Clown

Family comedians will get kicks from more than Route 66. Raptor Ranch’s Bedrock City, a Flintstones-themed park, is just a short drive from Williams and is sure to provide plenty of smiles. In addition, Poozeum is a quirky (but not stinky) museum unlike any other.

6. The Witchy & Woo-Woo

To put it simply, the majestic views of the Grand Canyon will deeply move you. Beyond the crown jewel canyon of Williams, you’ll find Sycamore Falls, a hidden gem waterfall hike that some consider a comparable alternative to Havasupai Falls. Indigenous heritage runs deep in and around Williams, with spiritual and ceremonial sites like Navajo and Wupatki National Monuments open to visitors. The area is also full of fantastic stargazing opportunities for all of your celestial soul searching.

7. Bougie Babes

While it’s clear Williams specializes in one-of-a-kind experiences, extraordinarily elevated is the guidepost of a bougie traveler. Wiliams has one simple solution: glamping. The Backland Luxury Eco Resort and Starry Nights Glamping are accommodations where guests can enjoy luxury amenities under the stars.

Whoever you’re traveling with to Williams, there’s an adventure waiting. Williams, Arizona, has the uncanny ability to be both familiar and surprising, comfortable and wondrous. Wherever you are on the spectrum, prepare to fall head over heels for Williams.
